
Christopher Bleiler has been working as a designer for twenty years. He brings a profound knowledge of materials and fabrication to his design work. Bleiler’s resourceful creativity and design instinct encompass any medium. He has completed thirty commercial and over two hundred residential commissions. While he demonstrates a wide vocabulary in his design, his furnishings and interiors are often inspired by the Pacific Northwest with a nod to modernism. Bleiler is known for his passion and ability to solve design challenges on the spot, creating beautiful, timeless solutions.
Bleiler studied at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in Wisconsin. He worked as a designer for Art Muscle magazine. He renovated a number of historic Victorian homes in Wisconsin. In the early 90s, he began designing and fabricating furniture and props. He opened a showroom of sustainable furnishings in Portland, Oregon, in 1998. He is one of the early champions of reuse of reclaimed Douglas Fir timbers in furniture and interiors.
Bleiler volunteers with a Land Use committee, helping improve livability for an urban neighborhood. He co-founded ShowPDX, a biennial furniture design exhibit, with Jennifer Jako. He loves to cook. His design often follows good food.
